Advanced Carbine – 2 Days


The Two-Day Advanced Carbine Course takes up where the Basic class ends, and coupled with a review of the Basic course, is designed to advance the knowledge and skills that allow the individual to safely and successfully operate the carbine. This class will emphasize basic CQB operations, including use of the pistol as both a backup secondary weapon and as a primary weapon under specific circumstances.

Classroom and range-based instruction includes essential safety and shooting fundamentals; further development of threat assessment skills using command decision targets and scenarios; improvement of reloading techniques; identifying, addressing, and resolving malfunctions; effective shooting and reloading in unconventional positions; moving and shooting while using cover; practical approaches to dealing with multiple opponents; further developing consistent safety, accuracy, and efficiency of motion in all operational aspects of carbine usage.

 A lunch break will be taken around noon each day.

  • Review of fundamentals, sight in, and other aspects of the Basic course
  • Advanced skill building
  • Magazine changes in unconventional positions
  • Addition training with weapon malfunctions and clearing procedures
  • Advanced magazine changes under stress
  • Barricades
  • Primary/Secondary weapon transition drills
  • Night & low light shooting


Ammunition Needed for This Class:

 200 rounds of pistol ammunition, 800 rounds of carbine ammunition
(factory or similar quality – if you have questions, call!)

 Gear You Will Need:

Pistol, holster, belt, three pistol magazines, pistol magazine holders, carbine, sling, four carbine magazines, carbine magazine holders, wraparound clear eye protection, ear protection, weapon cleaning kit, clothing appropriate for climate and conditions, and a water bottle or other hydration system, such as Camelback®.  For summer classes, a hat, tinted eye protection, and sunscreen are highly recommended.

 Teaching Method:

 This course will be taught using classroom lectures and practical field exercises

 Skill Prerequisites:

ATAG’s Basic Carbine and Basic Pistol courses, or similar courses of instruction, or a demonstrated familiarity with the Carbine and Pistol systems.

 Minimum Class Size:  1, 2, or 3 (see cost info)

 Maximum number of attendees: 12

 Duration: 2 Days - 10 -12 hours/1st day, 8 hours/2nd day

 Course Cost:

 $395.00 for a single student; $255.00 each for 2 students; or $175.00 each for 3 or more attendees.   

A certificate of completion is included, and as always, if you’ve completed one of our courses, we are available for free ongoing advice, and answers if you have questions as you continue to learn, or as you come into contact with other methods/styles of weapons techniques, gear, or practice (we’re not the only ones with good ideas!).  Just drop us an email and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.

  • electronic hearing protection – allows the user to hear normally until a shot is fired
